8th Grade
8th grade Social Studies: We are studying pre-WWI America, as it becomes a World Power. This takes right into the study of WWI.
8th grade Pre-Algebra: We are finishing up our work with Inequalities and will be going on to a review of Factors, Fractions, and Exponents.
In Math Grade 8 algebra students will be learning about graphing and solving inequalities. They also will begin solving linear systems.
Grade 8 Science- Congratulations to Joey, Gianna, Ana, Rahi, and Kevin, who will be participating in the state science fair in March.
Grade 8 is continuing to learn about chemical bonding and chemical changes.
Grade 8 Literature and Writing: We are currently finishing up our unit
on non-fiction literature and look forward to viewing each other’s
Powerpoint projects based on the biographies and autobiographies each
student read. We are just beginning our study of poetry. In addition
to writing poetry, we continue to work on writing essays with a focus
on expository and persuasive essays.
Grade 8 reminders: Congratulations! Our Candy Cane Fundraiser really
helped us earn money for our end of year field trip to High Meadows!
Our recent field trip to watch the dramas based on the short stories
we had read was wonderful. We look forward to seeing selections of
Shakespeare’s works performed this month.
Religion
We have a few more chapters before the Unit2 test.
We will then begin The Family Life Program.
In February we will take the ACRE Test. This is a test taken
by all eighth graders in Catholic and Religious Education programs
to test basic knowledge of the Catholic faith.

Spanish
We are finishing Chapter 7.There will be a test. Students
should start studying the vocabulary on page 61.
Chapter 8 theme is: Home. The vocab. will include names for furniture, appliances, chores, and names for rooms in a house. The verbs will be: poner, hacer, preferir and IR verbs.
