5th Grade
Religion: During the month of February, we will continue with our study of the Sacraments. We will concentrate our focus on Confirmation and Holy Eucharist.
Reading, Language Arts: We will enterVolume1 Unit 2 of our new Reading Series. We will deal with the question of “What makes people do the right thing?” We will continue to work on the skill of editing.We will also review regular and irregular Plural nouns.
Social Studies: We will concentrate our studies on Spanish Explorers who came to America. We will also learn about other European Explorers.
Science- We are wrapping up our study of earthquakes and volcanoes with a look at their locations. Our next unit will be Earth’s resources and how we can use them wisely.
Grade 5 students are so excited about math this week because we are studying fraction concepts and operations involving fractions. We are getting better at problem solving, too!!!
Other News: I would like to thank all the parents who contributed to our January Bake Sale. It was a huge success. Special thanks to Mrs. Iamarone, Mrs. Caporelli, Mrs Cubellotti, Mrs. Timbo, Mrs. Bressette and Mrs. Marcolivio for coming to help sell our items. We couldn’t have done it without your help.
As you know, the Multicultural Fair will be coming up in May. We will be studying the beautiful country of England. If you have any ideas or would like to share information with us please let me know. The Olympics will be held there soon and there is much excitement about that. I’ll be sending more information soon.
S.O.S. We really could use more tissues for our classroom. Somehow, they go so quickly. If you can send in another box we would be so grateful. I want to thank all those who have been sending boxes in regularly. God bless you!
