3rd Grade

Religion: We finished our unit in family life. We will continue learning about the early church and will begin studying the season of Lent.

Math: Our third graders are finishing their study of the 0-5 multiplication and division tables, and will be moving on to the 6-9 tables! Keep practicing with flash cards! Speed drills will be coming soon!

Science: We are learning about our Solar System.

Social Studies: We continue our study of communities. We had a preview of coming attractions for the Multi-Cultural Fair and our unit on China. On January 23rd we celebrated Chinese New Year! The students each received a lucky red envelope with some treats inside and we made red “Good Luck” banners for our windows.

Language Arts: We are writing sensory descriptions and realistic nonfiction.

Reading: We are reading stories about the history of money, and how and when we spend it.

Blessed Sacrament School had a toy pig race at the conclusion of our last fundraiser. We had a race as well as a costume competition. Since we will be studying China and 2012 is the “Year of the Dragon,” we named our pig Mushu, and dressed it as a dragon. We are proud to say Mushu came in first place in the Pig Race!!!
